Leadership Performance Academy (LPA) · Transformational Leadership Expedition

Step away from the noise. Return with clarity.

DeepCycle creates the space for senior leaders to reconnect with what matters, test themselves through a purposeful cycling expedition, and translate new insight into how they lead next.

Ride Further. Lead Deeper.

The leadership turning point

Some leadership moments require more than another programme.

Senior leaders are expected to remain clear, decisive and energising while navigating sustained pressure, competing priorities and constant change. Yet the demands of leadership can leave little space to step back and consider what matters now—and what should come next.

Taking on greater responsibility

A broader role, growing business or more complex mandate requires the leader to evolve alongside the organisation.

Navigating transition

Succession, career change or a new organisational chapter can prompt deeper questions about identity, purpose and contribution.

Leading through sustained pressure

Prolonged intensity can narrow perspective and disconnect leaders from the sources of energy, judgment and resilience they rely upon.

Seeking renewed direction

External success does not always provide internal clarity. Leaders sometimes need space to reconsider what matters and how they want to lead.

Many leaders recognise that something needs to change. Few create the space to understand what that change should be. DeepCycle creates that space.

More than an expedition

Challenge creates the opening. Coaching turns it into insight.

DeepCycle is a deliberately designed leadership-development journey in which preparation, physical challenge, reflection and workplace application reinforce one another.

Not simply a cycling tour. The route serves a leadership purpose.
Not a conventional workshop. Learning emerges through lived experience.
Not a wellness retreat. Reflection is connected to meaningful leadership choices.
Not an endurance event alone. Challenge is balanced with coaching, recovery and application.

The DeepCycle journey

Transformation happens before, during and after the expedition.

DeepCycle is not a single event. It is an integrated leadership journey that builds readiness before the ride, creates space for discovery during it, and supports meaningful application afterwards.

How challenge becomes leadership insight

The way we meet the journey can reveal how we lead.

Under pressure, participants can observe how they respond to uncertainty, discomfort, support, setbacks and progress—and consider how those same patterns appear at work.

Resilience

Explore how you manage energy, respond to difficulty and recover through sustained demands.

Leadership application: Regulate pressure, recover deliberately and sustain sound judgment.

Courage

Examine your relationship with uncertainty, risk, vulnerability and asking for support.

Leadership application: Address difficult issues and act despite incomplete information.

Perspective

Step away from familiar routines to reconsider assumptions, priorities and habitual responses.

Leadership application: Distinguish urgency from importance and see more possibilities.

Trust

Experience the balance between personal responsibility, interdependence and accepting help.

Leadership application: Strengthen relationships, safety and shared accountability.

Purpose

Consider where your energy is invested, what success now means and what you want to contribute.

Leadership application: Align choices and behaviour with meaningful direction.

The expedition does not prescribe a single answer. It creates the conditions for leaders to see themselves more clearly and choose their next step more deliberately.

Who DeepCycle supports

Designed for leaders entering their next chapter.

DeepCycle is intended for experienced leaders who are ready to step beyond familiar routines and engage seriously with their leadership, purpose and future direction.

Business owners and founders

Scaling a business, reconsidering their role or preparing the organisation for its next stage.

CEOs and senior executives

Carrying significant responsibility and seeking perspective, resilience or readiness for broader demands.

Leaders in transition

Navigating succession, career change, a new mandate or a significant personal and professional turning point.

Leadership teams

Building deeper trust, shared reflection and renewed commitment during an important organisational transition.

DeepCycle may be offered through a carefully formed cross-organisational cohort or designed for an intact leadership team, subject to readiness and fit.

What meaningful progress can look like

A clearer direction for the journey ahead.

DeepCycle does not promise a standardised transformation. Each participant enters with a different context and leadership question. Meaningful progress is agreed at the beginning and revisited throughout the experience.

Purposeful challenge requires responsible preparation.

Readiness, safety and recovery are designed into the experience—not treated as secondary considerations.

  • Individual leadership and readiness conversation
  • Appropriate health screening
  • Progressive fitness and cycling preparation
  • Clear expectations about physical demands and responsibilities
  • Responsible pacing, rest and recovery
  • Route, logistics and risk-management briefing for each expedition

Greater clarity

A stronger understanding of what matters now, what needs to change and where to direct leadership energy.

Renewed perspective

Greater awareness of how pressure, energy and recovery influence judgment and performance.

Deeper self-awareness

A clearer view of personal patterns, assumptions, strengths and potential limitations.

A commitment to action

Leadership experiments and practices that translate insight into everyday decisions and behaviour.

The objective is not to return as a different person. It is to return with greater clarity about the leader you intend to be.

Connected to the Leadership Performance Academy

The expedition can stand alone—or deepen a wider leadership journey.

DeepCycle is one of six connected offerings within the Leadership Performance Academy (LPA). It can operate as a distinct experience or complement other leadership and organisational-development work.

Leadership 3.0™

Use the Connect, Align, Deliver and Develop conversations to translate expedition insights into everyday leadership practice.

1-to-1 Executive Coaching

Create confidential space to prepare, make sense of what emerges and sustain commitments afterwards.

Assessments & Diagnostics

Use fit-for-purpose evidence to deepen self-awareness and focus individual or team development priorities.

Leadership-team development

Design DeepCycle for an intact senior team navigating transition, growth or a significant shared challenge.

The physical journey creates perspective. The wider Leadership Performance Academy helps that perspective live in the work.

Frequently asked questions

Questions leaders and organisational sponsors often ask.

Do participants need to be experienced cyclists?
Participants do not need to be elite cyclists. They must, however, be willing and able to complete the required preparation and undertake a multi-day expedition. Individual readiness is considered before participation is confirmed.
How physically demanding is DeepCycle?
The expedition is intentionally challenging. The specific demands depend on the route and conditions. Participants receive clear information, progressive preparation and guidance before the journey.
Is DeepCycle suitable for someone recovering from burnout?
DeepCycle is a leadership-development experience, not a medical or therapeutic intervention. Anyone managing a health condition or recovering from significant exhaustion should seek appropriate professional advice and complete the required readiness review.
Can an organisation send an intact leadership team?
DeepCycle may be designed for an intact senior team where the organisational context, relationships and shared leadership challenge make the experience appropriate. The design would be adapted to the team’s objectives and readiness.
Can leaders join an open cohort?
DeepCycle may also be offered through a carefully formed cohort of leaders from different organisations. Cohort composition, confidentiality and readiness are considered before places are confirmed.
What happens after the expedition?
Participants enter an integration period that may include executive coaching, leadership experiments, peer-accountability conversations and progress reviews over approximately 90 days.
How are confidentiality and organisational reporting handled?
Personal coaching conversations remain confidential. Any reporting to an organisational sponsor is agreed in advance and focuses on participation, collective themes, leadership commitments or appropriate evidence of application—not private individual disclosures.
Where does the expedition take place?
Routes are selected to provide meaningful challenge, natural space and appropriate logistical support. Location, terrain, dates and preparation requirements are confirmed for each expedition.
